  • The Web Hosting Basics You Must Know

    Matthew Dobinson 2:17 am on 01/08/2009 | 3 comments Permalink | Reply

Don’t feel uneducated if you are not familiar with all the technological terminology used by IT gurus describing kinds of web hosting. Nevertheless, it will do us not harm to become a little bit edified on some of the web hosting basics.

Web hosting, sounds much more complicated than it is. All websites on the internet, is kept on a computer at some place in the world. Your web address serves as a direction to the computer where your website is kept. The computer where your website is kept, is called the web host.

The computer where your site is stored are referred to as the web host which provides you with web hosting and the web host are eligible to charge you to keep your site on his computer or serving as a web host to your site.

If you do not need a very professional web site and only use it for personal use, simple information such as a social club, free web hosting will serve you well. However, due to the amounts of unavoidable advertisements and banner pop ups, this option is not recommended for a business site. Although, nothing in life is really free and the advertising will be the price to pay for you free web hosting, because in some way or other, the web host has to generate some kind of income to afford the hosting.

Shared hosting is another option to look at seeing that with cost from as low as $1 per month it can serve you with less or even no unwanted advertising and it is affordable. Shared hosting is a good option if you want a small web site for your business or personal use.

If you are looking for the Ferrari of web hosting, dedicated hosting is what you are looking for, but be aware, you will be paying for your Ferrari! Dedicated hosting is expensive but most reliable and the most protected kind of hosting. Small and medium sized businesses are most likely to find this option not being effective for their needs due to the cost involved. Large companies will benefit the most out of this type of hosting due to the high demand of traffic it can handle. With dedicated hosting a whole server are put to the disposal of an individual user.

A website owner who wants to make use of their own hardware and have complete control over their system are making use of collocated hosting. All they make use of is the service of storing their server with a service provider’s data centre.

  • The Future of E-Commerce in Australia

    Matthew Dobinson 4:58 pm on 15/06/2009 | 1 comments Permalink | Reply

Progressively, a huge number of shoppers in Australia are doing everything online. However, the big question lies in how good the small business owners keeping up. When was the last time you purchased something through online shopping? The art of online shopping has emerged as a common place for everyone to run into. According to a recent survey conducted by the Nielsen group, it was found out that eighty percent of internet users in Australia do online shopping compared to the percentage of online users in the US which is just around sixty six percent. So with the Aussie consumers ready for the coming of age of e-commerce, are the entrepreneurs keeping up the same level of enthusiasm?

Selling online can primarily lessen the costs of your sales. This kind of business does not necessarily require the hiring of staff or purchasing of office equipment or space. With all systems in place, you can rev up your sales without adding up to your list of expenses. With the help of a credible australian web hosting, you can further on be capable of additional features like automated stock control, database management, online payments, etc. You can also use the Internet to help you in building your niche where competition is not based on price alone. With all these, it’s not impossible for you to make money even while in your sleep.

So all you gotta do is put it all together and start right away building up your own online business. If you are comfortable working with HTML or has a bit of a background for Cpanel web hosting, then you can look for softwares and begin your major web development. You can also pay a web consusltant to help you out or hire a developer.

Find the time to check out the Internet and be amazed with how the long list of available companies in Australia that offer cpanel web hosting and a lot of other Australian web hosting.

  • Australian Web Hosting

Whether you are the owner of a new website or are looking for ways to take your real world business online, chances are you will need somewhere to host your site. For people in Australia, it’s likely a good idea to get an Australian web hosting company to provide web space for you, as they give lower rates to Australian citizens than a hosting company out of the country would. In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the advantages finding hosting with an Australian web company provides, as well as some of the packages typically offered.

Australian web hosting companies are able to more easily allow access to citizens inside the country, and are especially useful for businesses. Australian hosting typically includes a standard package, which provides the webmaster with a certain amount of storage space, various tools for designing sites, mailing services, and anti-spam services. They may also feature an ecommerce account, designed to help you get the most out of your online business with shipping and billing registration tools, checkouts, and payment options. If you are a reseller, then getting a package specifically for reselling is an excellent way to maximize your sales. There are even Australian hosting packages for dedicated servers and VPS hosting.

Signing up with an Australian web hosting company will mean that anyone in the country will easily be able to access your servers, and they will be provided with an increased speed rather than if the site were hosted elsewhere. Since Australia is so far separated from most of the planet, people trying to access servers outside of the country frequently experience longer load times. It will also allow you to more easily optimize your site for search engines, so that when users look for sites specifically hosted in Australia, your site will be significantly easier to find. In fact, search engines that are used by people outside of the country they’re hosted in sometimes have the option to only show results from their country.

If you are interested in running a website, be it for business or personal use, which caters specifically to the Australian population, then it only makes sense to sign up with an Australian web hosting company for your web space. Taking advantage of the relatively close proximity between your hosting company and your users is guaranteed to make the site more accessible and function better.

Free webhosting sites don’t often provide great support because they have a large number of users and they don’t have a commitment to keep those users on their site because a departure would be of little consequence. When you pay a small fee for your hosting, your provider makes your needs and satisfaction a priority and some premium hosting companies will even offer a money back guarantee which completely eliminates the risk of investing in your own website. If you want to establish yourself as a professional to your potential online audience, having your own domain and a website with design and features you can control is going to speak volumes about you as a professional.

  • Web Hosting - The Simple Basics

    Matthew Dobinson 7:36 am on 24/04/2009 | 2 comments Permalink | Reply

You do not need to feel illiterate if you are not up to all the technical terms relating to web hosting. Though, it is helpful to have some knowledge on the simple basics of web hosting.

Web hosting, simplified means that you get your website on the internet. Every website on the internet, regardless of size or type is stored on a computer at some place in the world. The address of your website is literally the address of the computer on which your website is stored – the web host. This storing of your website on a computer is called web hosting.

A web host is the owner of the computer where your site is stored. The web host charges a fee to host your site on the web.

Free web hosting is a good option if you use your website for personal use, uncomplicated information such as a site for a hobby. If the name of your game is business, the endless and harassing amounts of banner pop ups and text advertisements will do your business’ image no good. However, one must remember in order to provide free web hosting, income of some kind need to be generated and the most sensible way will be to provide advertising space.

With charges from as little as $5 per month shared hosting is one of the most cost effective web hosting solutions on the web. It is the perfect option for a small or medium business or serious personal use.

Dedicated hosting is regarded to be the most reliable and safest type of hosting option. However, dedicated hosting is not cost effective for small or medium enterprises. It is the ideal solution for large companies with huge web activity and websites that experience large volumes of web traffic because a complete server is set aside for the use of one single customer.

Collocated hosting is an expensive type of web hosting. It provides the opportunity for the customer wants to make use of his own hardware to operate his server with the difference that the server is located at the service provider’s data centre.
